All the articles and images on Hvar were inadequate in preparing me for the beautiful little harbor town that has retained its charm despite the millions of visitors it receives each year. Oligarchs and the super rich sail into the tiny harbor on their supersized yachts and sail away without too much contamination.
A sparkling day meant another hike five miles along the coastal path past the lighthouse, Pakleni Islands and aquamarine coves to descend to the secluded beaches of the quaint town of Milna.
Lunch today was at Mate and Mihaela’s home and we sampled their rose grappa and wines and feasted on a luscious and lavish spread. I fell in love with their nine year old son Bruno who allowed me to take a photograph with him.
A wonderful way to spend a day and slip into slumber lulled by the waters lapping below my window.
